Remember how I told you about my client hiring an email agency to write a new welcome series to battle the one I wrote in 2022 (that generated at least $10k in revenue every 30 days for YEARS)?
Well, I have another update for ya…
As my welcome series converted better at the beginning, I’ve been slowly increasing the percentage of new leads that go down my “path” versus the email agency’s “path.”
It’s currently sending 85% of people eligible for the split test down my path (this is up from 50% just a few weeks ago).
And while I’m not killing the test off yet… I’m close to.
But how is it converting?
By my rough estimation, this welcome series test has been live for about 45 days (give or take).
Here are the results:

Not only is my first email converting at a clip of 15.5% (compared to 11%), but it’s generated more than $3,600 more doll-hairs than the other one too. It’s also getting higher opens and more clicks too—more proof that a heavily designed template that looks pretty isn’t as effective as copywriting.
And the first email only tells half of the story…
My welcome series stretches to 15 emails in total, which “indoctrinates” them to our brand and our way of doing things. My other emails are also converting at a higher clip than any of the other heavily designed emails in the agency’s welcome series. And there are only 4 emails total in their welcome series.
Again, more proof that heavily designed emails don’t convert as well as ugly, plain-text ones that create a relationship with our audience.
I haven’t checked into the conversions yet… But I’d also be shocked if the customers who got the agency’s welcome instead of mine end up becoming repeat customers faster than my welcome.
Moral of the story?
If you want to make more money each and every month without so much as lifting a finger, let me write your welcome series.
Now, it won’t be cheap.
But it will generate a positive ROI, especially when you stretch it over the course of months or even years. By my conservative estimation, my original welcome series generated well over $200k since I first set it up.
So, how much is $200k in new revenue and new customers worth to your brand?
(I promise my fees, however outrageous they might seem, are a fraction of the revenue you’ll generate.)
The ball’s in your court now, cully.
Hit reply, and let’s fix your welcome series.
John
