“That’s why I’m well compensated”

At the risk of not having an “evergreen” email…

Mike Tomlin, the Steelers head coach, made a controversial decision before the past Stillers game:

Despite Justin Fields leading the team to a 4-2 record through six weeks as quarterback, Tomlin benched Fields for Russell Wilson.

The entire week, the media was outraged.

It was unfair to bench Fields, they said. He played good enough to stay the starter, they said. Russ is washed and old and won’t be as good as Fields was, they said.

Tomlin didn’t care.

He had conviction.

He sees his players in practice every day, not the talking heads in the media.

And he owned his decision to start Russ.

(Several lessons in there)

The result?

Russ had a great game. More than 250 passing yards. 3 touchdowns. And most important, he led the Steelers to a YUGE win over the desperate New York Jets.

After the game, a reporter asked Tomlin about his decision…

…to which Tomlin replied:

“That’s why I’m well compensated” before figuratively dropping the mic and leaving the press room.

Tomlin didn’t tell no lie!

And yanno what?

That’s what I’ll say to you after we hop on a call, figure out a better email marketing strategy, and start implementing it when you’re shocked at how much money you were leaving on the table each and every month with email.

“That’s why I’m well compensated.”

And I can even give you that same energy back:

“And, that’s why you’re well compensated now too.”
