Roid rage, projection, or both?

I got a spicy reply from a cold lead I offered to help the other day.

This bozo responded to an innocent email saying something like, “don’t send me another bleeping email or I’ll report you.”

Ooooooh.

Big, bad, scary man so blinded by rage he must’ve missed my obvious unsubscribe link I include in every cold email (to avoid whatever fate would happen if’n I got “reported”).

And someone who obviously is too overwhelmed with his email strategy to take a deep breath and respond without projecting.

Here’s what I mean:

After I looked at his spicy reply, I decided to, y’know, sign up for his email list to see if he was raging out because of his email strategy and I was just the sucker who received the projection about how he feels about himself.

Guess what cully:

Every single email his company sent me made a beeline straight to my spam folder.

HA!

The irony just writes itself, eh?

(And no, I didn’t do him the favor of marking his email as not spam because he handled a simple question in such a rude and roid-raged manner.)

Here we have someone who desperately needs my services, mayhap more than anybody who’s ever told me to F off in a reply to my cold email.

Someone who is obviously so stressed and overwhelmed he couldn’t help but project his deepest insecurities onto someone who was offering help.

Help that he desperately needs, mind you.

Alas, his stress is forcing him to make literal business-killing mistakes and to shoot the messenger who offered help.

Many lessons here.

But it looks like I dodged a big o’ bullet too.

Anyway…

If your emails keep landing in spam, there’s a reason.

An occasional email landing in spam here and there ain’t the end of the world. But when every single email you send lands in spam?

Well, you got problems that will sink your business given enough time if you don’t fix them.

For this poor guy, methinks his business will be kicking the ole dusty bucket soon.

But for your business?

It doesn’t have to be this way.

Hit reply and let’s set up a quick chat to see if we’re a good fit.

And if we are?

Well, I don’t think it’s going too far to say you at least won’t be so overwhelmed and your business so doomed to bankruptcy that you lash out at the innocent messengers offering to help get you unstuck for a fee.

Only one way to find out. Hit reply, and let’s start chatting.

John
