ok ok ok ok ok ok, yeesh, daddy’s home

I’ve gotten more emails over the past week wondering where the hell daddy’s been after going out to get milk a little over a month ago, and seemingly never returning.

Well, here’s the good news, cully:

Daddy’s home.

I had to take a month off from writing my daily-ish ramblings because, well, I was feeling the sting of burn out stronger than mayhap any other point since starting this email list years ago.

There’s a bunch of reasons why:

* Cold email agencies and software companies are the worst - they’ve absolutely decimated my cold outreach. In fact, when I checked this recently, I discovered a whopping 96% of my cold emails were landing in spam.

* I’ve been busy testing a new direct mail strategy, which I’ve discovered is incredibly time-consuming (especially after the sales letter is done - I spent hours one day adding stamps to hundreds of letters)

* Client demands have become, well, more demanding. This is both good and bad news. But it kept me from writing this daily-ish newsletter. This includes one of the most in-depth launch sequences daddy’s ever written - I think it’ll launch in September.

* Relationships are also hard. Not much else to say on that front except that I have a wedding coming up soon-ish.

* And, perhaps most important, I haven’t been in love with the emails I was whipping up as of recent. They just didn’t have that same oomph that I expect from myself due to the stress and burnout I’ve been battling. Maybe you’ll agree, maybe you won’t. Point is, I felt like sumtin was missing - and I can already feel my powers returning.

Alright, enough rambling on about me and my life.

Isn’t the first rule of marketing to talk about the customer?

Well, in a way, I was -

Because I said all that to say this, well, again:

Daddy’s back.

We’ll be returning to our regularly scheduled programming from here on out.

(And you know what? Whenever I felt the “itch,” I started writing emails ahead of time again.)

Which brings me to the rub:

Hit reply if you need help battling burnout, declining sales, terrible deliverability, or any other problem that could be remedied by simply making more moolah.

Meet ya back here tomorrow.

John
