Not even a business can save you from a fate this dark

Having your own business is one of the best advantages you can have:

You don’t have to answer to anyone.

You can design the life of your dreams.

And you’re immunized from most of the external threats that could come, whether they be economical, political, or something else entirely.

Well, this ain’t the case for the weirdos who celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

People have been getting fired left and right since their employers got word of their employees’ glee about the death of an innocent person (but who they disagreed with).

But y’know what?

I’ve also seen a fair share of business owners celebrating this tragedy.

Their businesses are on shaky grounds now. Review bombing on Google and Facebook and anywhere else reviews get collected ensued. But most important? If your customers are centrist (note that I did not say right-of-center because center is the new right-of-center) or even slightly left-of-center (but not a deranged leftie who celebrates death), they will think twice before “voting” on your business.

If they even kinda have a competitor, they just advertised their competitors’ businesses for free.

Now, I’m sure that businesses in the big cities can get away with this gross reversal of mortality. After all, elections in the US are really a battle between big cities (where nearly everyone votes blue) and the rest of the country (where nearly everyone votes red).

But if you rely on any kind of online traffic, then, well, there are few things more stupid than celebrating death.

Especially since most businesses follow the best practice of avoiding talking about politics. If you don’t shy away from your political leanings, then you can engage in attraction and repulsion marketing that naturally segments your audience to better align with your views and values.

But most businesses have no idea how their actual customers lean politically. And so, when you expose yourself as a deranged and insensitive cretin, don’t be shocked when you alienate a large crop of your customers.

This should be obvious, but unfortunately, it is not.

Anywho:
