What’s the quickest way to lose your job as an NFL head coach? Or, as a business owner, what’s the quickest way to watch your business go belly up?
If’n you answered “yelled at your customers in a needy and emotional storm,” then you’re right, bucko.
And yes, this recently happened in week 6 of the NFL season.
Here’s what hap’n’d:
The Eagles head coach, one Nick Sirianni, was on the hot seat for his job before the season even started. He doesn’t get along with his calm and reserved franchise quarterback because Nick is a hothead. Last year, after losing the Super Bowl the year prior and starting off the season hot with a 10-1 record after 12 weeks, the Eagles flew to close to the sun, and like Icarus, came crashing down.
They finished the season 11-6 and got embarrassed in their only playoff game.
Then, Jason Kelce, a first ballot hall-of-fame center (which is next to impossible at that position) retired. And since Jason was probably the one to keep tensions calm between Nick and the Eagles’ quarterback, Nick had been on the hot seat all season.
They’ve had a piss poor start to this season too. Despite having a winning record, they haven’t looked great in any game.
Case in point:
This past week they played the Cleveland Browns, who are one of, if not the, worst teams in the league. And when the game was much closer than it oughta been, Nick, instead of yanno coaching his team, decided to turn his back on the field and yell at the Eagles fans who were calling for him to be fired.
Eagles fans who are, you know, the customers.
Not a good look. Everyone noticed it immediately.
And a couple of days after exploding on the customers, Nick apologized in his press conference.
An even worse look.
Moral of the story?
Neediness will get you fired quicker than you can say eagle.
(And while this is a dramatic example of neediness in action, almost every brand makes this mistake, admittedly on a much smaller scale, in their emails.)
But the good news here is I can help you eradicate your neediness in emails. One of the best ways to eliminate neediness naturally is by simply not “needing” your customers to do anything, e.g. buy a certain product.
In other words:
Implementing my revenue-driven, personality-pimping email strategy alone will plummet your neediness. And with each email I send, and the more moolah you see in your bank account, the more your neediness will nose-dive. Until, one day, you realize it’s eradicated completely.
But it starts with you hitting reply, and then jumping on a quick call with me.
