I’m not retarded but…

I sure feel that way sometimes.

Case in point:

One of the weirdest “glitches” I have has nothing to do with business or marketing or writing infectious copy…

No, it has to do with the damned sink in the kitchen.

Here’s what I mean:

I have a really bad habit of refusing to stack dishes in the sink. Something about old and cold and dirty water rubs me the wrong way. And so, when the dishes pile up in the sink, instead of stacking them in the sink, I throw them on the counter.

(Several dishes have broken from my tossing them around like they aren’t made of glass…)

Peanut hates when I do this. Understandably so - it leaves us (her) with no counter space to cook and prep food. Not to mention, it makes the kitchen look a whole lot more cluttered than it ought to be.

But here’s the thing…

I NEVER realized I did this until Peanut told me about it a couple of weeks back.

Like, no idea.

I became so skilled at leaving dirty dishes on the counter that this silly mistake never even crossed my mind!

And, of course, that reminded me of a common biz problem:

When you’re too close to something, you don’t realize the mistakes you make.

That’s one of the many reasons why having a trusted partner on your team is a lot more important than just writing more profitable emails or better ads. Sure, these things also matter. But being able to highlight silly mistakes that go completely unnoticed tends to be more important.

Especially when you consider that most entrepreneurs get trapped in their ways and plant the seeds of destruction in their business to justify their role in the company.

Many such cases of this exact scenario killing otherwise good and healthy businesses.

Were it not for Peanut pointing out this mistake, I would still be making it.

And so it is with mistakes you’re making in your business.

But don’t worry - you’re one reply away from not only correcting these mistakes before they take your business captive, but also from enjoying a growth season unlike anything your business has experienced.

Do you have the courage to hit reply?

John
