There’s been a lot of talk—and, well, to be frank: hate—about Joe Rogan’s latest stand-up special. Full disclosure: I do not have Netflix and have not seen his special.
But the folks who have watched it?
Despite a few chuckles here and there, they didn’t laugh. In fact, many are realizing that Joe’s kind of a fraud when it comes to stand-up.
Now…
Take all this with a big, fat grain of paprika.
Comedy is as subjective as the most derivative piece of art that hangs in sciolist’s art studios. For example: I’ve never thought Bert Kreischer was particularly funny… but when I saw 30 minutes of his act in person, I exploded with laughter.
Comedy is also one of the rare forms of entertainment that’s at least 1000x better live, with an audience, than watching it on tv. Live music also falls into this category—and maybe live sports, but that’s a stretch.
Anywho:
People haven’t exactly loved Rogan’s new special.
And yet…
Dude just inked a deal for a quarter of a bill-yun doll-hairs.
Now, of course, this deal was for his podcast, not his comedy. But my point still remains: You can be a massive fraud and still a massive success.
Joe’s also built his own comedy club in Austin, Texas which hosts some of the funniest comedy shows to grace the modern world.
Moral of the story?
Not everyone will like everything you do.
But you can still win big. (Heck, Scott Adams wrote a whole book about this after losing his voice.)
How?
Well, one of Joe’s secrets is his consistency.
He consistently goes to open mics—and I’m sure this has helped his comedy (even if most people still find it unfunny).
He consistently records podcast episodes with the most diverse array of guests you could imagine: From comedians to fighters to scientists to musicians and every-damn-thing in between. There’s something for everyone on his podcast.
And he consistently diversifies his money: From stand-up to Fear Factor to UFC to podcasting to his comedy club.
Joe has made it impossible for him to lose.
And yes, this is so strong that he also can’t lose if he’s an unfunny hack on stage.
Best part about this?
You can do it too.
And one of the best ways to become more consistent—and make more consistent sales—is to sell via email more consistently.
It really ain’t much harder than that.
But if’n you need help, hit reply, and let’s chat.
