Despite never being a big Tom Brady fan (and even actively despising him for always beating my Steelers), I gotta admit: I’m warming up to him.
For those who don’t know, Brady took a year off after retiring. But he’s going back to work this year as a commentator for Fox during NFL games. And, yes, he’s getting a ludicrous contract.
Since he took up the job at Fox (and has been practicing more than the average commentator… lesson in there), he’s been on a media circle, going on Fox shows like The Herd.
I highly recommend you check out this interview. (It happened on June 19, 2024 in case you’re wondering.)
But there’s one thing Brady said that’s been stuck in my head like an annoying pop song.
At one point, Colin asked Tom if he felt nervous entering a new phase in his career since he’s been long-anointed as the king of no nerves for his seven Super Bowl victories.
Tom’s response?
He always felt nervous.
As prepared as he always was, the outcome was never guaranteed. You could play a near-perfect game in football and still lose on any given Sunday.
In fact, he went on to explain how after particularly poor performances, he would beat himself up and wonder how any team in the NFL would want him to be their QB.
This is the goat we’re talking about here (as reluctant as I am to say that… and, no, I don’t agree that he’s the goat, but most people kneel at the altar of his goat statue).
In other words:
Even the goat gets imposter syndrome.
There are a ton of similarities between Tom and entrepreneurs and copywriters.
Especially when it comes to imposter syndrome.
But here’s a key point:
The imposter syndrome Tom felt kept him humble, working hard, and always striving to be better.
Moral of the story?
Imposter syndrome ain’t all bad.
And everyone experiences it.
Even Tom mf Brady.
One of the best ways to get rid of imposter syndrome, especially if you’re not good at writing, is by outsourcing your emails to a professional like your oh-so-humble narrator here.
Not only will this eliminate your imposter syndrome for writing and marketing, but when you see the stacks rolling in, well, let’s just say it'll be much harder for imposter syndrome to rent real estate in your head.
So here’s what I want you to do:
Hit reply, and let’s hop on a quick call to see if I can take your email marketing off your plate (and grow it to heights you don’t even realize are possible right now).
