[Drake voice] Runnin’ through-a bunch-a AI woes

Every lazy marketer, and a few of the good guys, have been hyping up AI to the max. And I’m simply not impressed yet.

I get it, part of a marketers job is to hype things up and make every new technological advancement appear to be better than sliced bread.

But I’m just not seeing why so many people are raving about AI. At least, not yet.

On one hand, AI pumps out drivel that, while technically “right,” is void of any sense of personality, purpose, or persuasion.

On the other hand, asking AI to do basic, repeatable tasks is like teaching an old dog new tricks.

Here’s what I mean:

Since AI launched, I’ve found a few use cases to help me better serve my clients. One such way is cleaning up a transcript riddled with ums, y’knows, and unnecessary and weird phrasing. When I’m doing this low-level “copywriting” work, I have a specific script I use to get AI to do what I want.

But there’s a big, fat problem I keep encountering:

AI doesn’t listen to me. It doesn’t do the task I ask each time. In fact, I often have to tell it to follow my script to the T, something it does sometimes and ignores other times.

Today, I went back and forth with ChatGPT for so long, I was better off doing the low-level copywriting work myself. It would’ve taken less time, and I would’ve spit out a much better end product myself.

And this made me wonder…

How many innocent business owners are using AI because it’s “easier” and they keep seeing marketers hype it up… Only to push their audiences off of a cliff because the content AI produces is, well, obviously AI-produced?

Mesuspects it’s a lot.

Now, I don’t mean to poo-poo on AI as a whole. It’s still a decent research tool—but it also requires a copywriter to completely change and rearrange the research into copy that’s persuasive.

Moral of the story?

AI ain’t all it's cracked up to be.

While there are some use cases, I’m having trouble seeing how AI can be a reliable part of your marketing strategy without the help of a professional copywriter.

Which brings me to the point:

If you’re continually disappointed by AI or your email marketing strategy, I can help.

Hit reply, and let’s set up a quick call to see if partnering together makes sense.
