bleeding cats, broken computers, and TikTokfluencers

Writer: John BrandtJohn Brandt

Life comes at you quick…

I woke up today at 4:44 am to shrieks from Peanut and the weirdest noise ever from Myles, one of our two cats. He was puking up blood. Not good.

He’s been fine-ish for almost two hours at this point (no more vomiting, and he’s starting to act more normal than he’s been) but in our neck of the woods in Ohio, vet ERs are closed until 7:15. Not necessarily ideal. We think (hope?) that he ate something he shouldn't have. Luckily, one of my clients has a product (originally for humans) that our customers have used on their cats to large success. I sprayed that on him as soon as possible—and think it might be helping. (If you’d like to know what this product is and try it, hit reply, and ask away.)

Plus, Peanut’s car is in the shop, so we only have one car instead of two.

And on top of that, Slack stopped working on my computer this morning too. I’ve ignored update notifications from Slack for months now. But I can’t update it until I update my laptop—and according to the download bar, I have 6 hours until this massive update completes.

It just so happens that this afternoon I have a meeting with a TikTok influencer to see if I can help him drive more revenue by adding email to his ecommerce store that’s loosely related to his TikTok following. This seems like a cake walk after this morning.

Where am I going with this?

Well, the life of an entrepreneur ain’t always sunshines and rainbows. Despite how much I sell the lifestyle and freedom benefits of having a successful and growing business, it doesn’t stop life from happening.

And life itself ain’t always sunshines and rainbows.

But having the freedom to start and end work whenever, handle the day’s urgent events on your schedule and without worrying what a boss will think, and supporting your family in whatever way they need makes it slightly easier to overcome life’s obstacles.

And you know what?

If you need help with growing your business with email even when life gets in the way and prevents you from working, I can help.

Hit reply and we’ll set up a quick call to see if working together makes sense.

And if it does make sense and you find yourself in a stressful morning like Your Humble Narrator here, then, well, you can at least know that your business won’t crash and burn to the ground while you handle life.

John

PS - Adding this a few hours later: The trip to the vet was fruitful. Myles the cat is okay, besides a deep laceration he got on his tongue (somehow?) that resulted in a metric ton of cat blood. But he'll be fine. Doesn't make it any less stressful though.
