I switched from Aweber to BirdSend for my personal email list over a year ago.
And they finally let me down.
(If you remember the Aweber story, they weren’t sending my emails anymore—which is a much larger problem than the BirdSend one I dealt with a few days ago. It was a pain in the arse moving hundreds of emails to a new platform and I don’t plan on doing that again any time soon. Oh - by the way, if you want to test out BirdSend for yourself, they’ll give both of us bonuses for using my affiliate link: https://birdsend.co?fp_ref=john93)
Here’s what happened:
One way to “spur” your list into action is by changing the “from name” of your emails. I don’t recommend doing this often, but it’s effective every once in a while.
Why does this work?
Well, people read left to right and they also read top to bottom. So they see the from name before the subject whether they’re reading on desktop or mobile.
And so, the other day, when I wrote a tongue-in-cheek story about being “John-Maud’Dib” from Dune, I decided to change my from name to include the “-Maud’Dib” part.
I thought it’d only change my from name for that specific email. Nope. It changed my from name for every email that went out.
Not a big deal - but still a “deal” if’n you catch my drift.
So, I had to change it.
Bird-sized problems compared to the mountain-sized problem I dealt with with Aweber.
It doesn’t hurt that BirdSend is also cheaper than the already cheap Aweber.
Anywho:
